Okay, So with Emma Watson and others talking, the hot topic is feminism. I have never considered myself a feminist. I always sort of disliked that term. Maybe I was blind to reality though? I wasn’t personally affected by issues of inequality because the men in my life treated me as equals. I also dated genuine guys early on in my dating life. Before online dating, I thought women had come so far to being more respected by men. I knew there was still work to be done, but i had no idea it was this much. I see issues especially online, so that’s where i will address my rant.
I have been personally treated as an object online (as you have seen in earlier blogs) and I am downright tired of it. Yes, you have the right to free speech, but this many men shouldn’t be treating women in this way just because they are behind a keyboard. Here’s what i think needs to happen. We need to stop accepting the “boys will be boys” type of culture. Parents need to raise MEN and not boys who respect women and NEVER think of treating a woman as an object or just a fun sex toy.We will only be able to see a change when no woman accepts this behavior from men. Every woman needs a voice. We need to be able to say that women are worthy and not to be spoken to with such disrespect. Some women will need help for a stronger voice and I understand that.
With everything going on online lately, call me crazy but I will be much happier single than with a guy who treats me or other women as an object. Joking or not, its not really funny. I know that many guys are just looking to get a rise out of you. They want to torment and tease others. This is bully behavior and it’s not okay. I realize i have big boobs, I realize that i was born curvy and such, but your comments can be directed in a way that is respectful of me as a person, not me as an object or sex symbol. It’s just not okay.
That being said, i know there are great guys out there!! I am POSITIVE they are. 100% this is not a rag on every single guy. This is just an observation of what i have seen lately. I just want to see advancement and change in the way that women are spoken to in the online dating world. Treat us like humans please!
