Bridezillas

Standard

Is it just me or is everyone around you that’s getting married being a bridezilla? I don’t really get it, because i have never been married, but to me the wedding is a party for the family. The marriage is what you should concentrate on. Can we stop making insane weddings with crazy budgets and think about the long term implications of it? I dunno… just my rant of the day….

I had a discussion a while back with a friend about “unconditional love”, I think its honestly just a phrase. Love inherently has conditions, you fall in love with someone because the conditions are met. If they aren’t met, you don’t fall for that person. You have in your mind the vision of some qualities in a mate that you would not date them if they didn’t have (like say religion, or not a criminal, or if they weren’t a caring person, or…). If they break those conditions later, it can lessen your love for them or even destroy it. Love is conditional. if you loved someone who cheated on you and you were mad about it, that strong love is tarnished, they have broken the condition of being faithful and trustworthy. If you hate drugs and criminal activities, and someone you love gets into criminal activities and drugs i would think your love would be damaged.

Let me clear this up, i am talking about romantic love, not family love or the love between a mother and child, etc. I think the closest to unconditional love is that of parents for their children. Yet, even then if the children repeatedly do things that the parent is not approving of and maybe even endangering to others, the love can be much weaker and some can loose it altogether.

Love is conditional, in my opinion.

British Barry

Standard

Alright, I have been lacking on my actual material of telling you about the dates i have gone on. So here we go, this is a new story for you!

So i met a guy on tinder called Barry (remember: names are changed on here). He was British, and oddly enough a spitting image of Scot Mills from BBC Radio 1. (I listen to British radio because there are no commercials!!!). He came over to the states at the age of 5 but still had a pretty good accent. So I invited him over to an impromptu bonfire in my backyard with my friends M & J (Who got married a couple weeks later!! Congrats!!!). He seemed quite funny and interesting at the fire. I was intrigued! After M & J left, he even was a good kisser, WHOOO!!!

We went on a few more dates over the course of a few weeks. It started to fizzle out quickly for me. He only wanted to talk about things that were incredibly boring to me….He talked about ghost hunting and being possessed for like 30 minutes over a lunch once even though i was clearly rolling my eyes with boredom and kept trying to change the subject. He couldn’t tell me any hobbies that we had in common and seemed to not actually listen to me. A day after i told him i wasn’t a big fan of going to the movies for dates, because i liked to get to know the person, guess what? He took me to the movies…. UMM?

One day he asked me to meet him for lunch, it was last minute, so i left work and went to lunch. I had told him before that i didn’t really care for panera (I try to stay away from breads as much as possible), he took me there, then didn’t offer to pay. Then i was bored out of my mind.

Even with his lack of great conversation, I was thinking about it one day and i was stumped to think of any time where he actually asked me a question about my life, hobbies, family, etc. He was making no real effort to get to know me. I told him about this, and i gave him one more date…he asked one question. Yea, a British accent cannot mask a general lack of conversational understanding.

Your Boyfriend is NOT your best friend

Standard

Remember when i went on that rant about how your boyfriend is NOT your best friend? Its a completely different relationship. Its odd to say that they are your best friend. Apparently i am not the only one…

http://totalsororitymove.com/newsflash-your-boyfriend-is-not-your-best-friend/

This article argues that your boyfriend will never understand you the way a best friend can!!! Agreed!

There is a funny video at the end, i don’t necessarily agree with, but its funny.

I WAS WRONG!

and keeps texting….

ugh

Today he tells me that “that was not crohns this weekend. Whatever it was, it was contagious”….

UMM i think i know when my crohns is acting up, and no one else is sick. I didn’t even hang out with this guy more than an hour and i didn’t even touch him…

EITHER way, any time you accuse someone of getting you sick, that’s just rude!

Random Dating thoughts

Standard

So I met a new friend this weekend and i got to talk to her about our struggles to find men. Real men! She said whats in the dating pool are leftovers. I have to slightly agree and disagree. hahah I do believe there are good guys out there!

http://www.collegehumor.com/post/6960382/this-dude-is-really-good-at-tinder

Okay, so maybe not that guy…. But you should read it for some laughs.

Anyways, she told me that she went on first dates where the guy stuck her with the check! So she paid her half and left! AMEN girl!

So a date I had about a month ago…. He changed the oil in my car for free, which was awesome. (I brought him Jack and coke to repay that). Then he took me to a concert the next night. I thought he seemed a bit young and immature. He was just obviously a bit wild. So we are at the concert, and a lady taps him on the shoulder. It was HIS MOM. HAHA at the concert!! lol Awkwarddddd. Its okay though, he supposedly didn’t know she was going to the same concert. So then part of the way through the concert, he put his thumbs through my belt loops….We were dancing and all but it was a bit awkward. OHHHH, i forgot, he never offered to buy any of my drinks for the night… i can totally understand if he doesn’t want to pay for all of the overpriced beer that night, but to not offer for even the first round? Am i crazy on this?

http://thoughtcatalog.com/christopher-hudspeth/2014/04/18-ugly-truths-about-modern-dating-that-you-have-to-deal-with/#9Ghgbb5Vr4rI3pyP.01

I was reading this article today… I don’t agree with all of them, but

#7-“The only difference between your actions being romantic and creepy is how attractive the other person finds you. That’s it, that’s all.”

OMG!!! SO TRUE! hahaha

8. “Let’s chill” & “Wanna hang out?” are vague phrases that likely mean “let’s hookup” — and while you probably hate receiving them, they’re the common way to invite someone to spend time these days, and appear to be here to stay.

YUP< i have heard this too many times. Add “Wanna come cuddle?” to that list.

9. “Some people just want to hookup and if you’re seeking more than sex, they won’t tell you that they’re the wrong person for you. At least, not untilafter they score your prize. While human decency is ideal, honesty isn’t mandatory.”

Honesty is a big deal with me, i wish more people thought the same… 😦

10. “The text message you sent went through. If they didn’t respond, it wasn’t because of malfunctioning phone carrier services.”

I always say, you are not too busy to send a text, it takes about 30 seconds to send me a message. Don’t have 30 seconds? I don’t know ANYONE THAT busy.

16. ” When dating, instead of expressing how they feel directly to you, a person is more likely to post a Facebook status or Instagram a Tumblr-esque photo of a sunset with a quote or song lyric of someone else’s words on it, and while it may not mention your name, it’s blatantly directed at you.”

HAHA we girls do this… lol

18. “If you get dumped, it’s probably going to be pretty brutal. People can cut ties over the phone and avoid seeing the tears stream down your face or end things via text and avoid hearing the pain in your cracking voice and sniffling nose. Send a lengthy text and voilà, relationship over. The easy way out is far from the most considerate.”

Been there. It was awful to be dumped in a text. AWFUL

Happy Monday Y’all!

Date a guy with Crohn’s Disease

Standard

Some of you know, some don’t- that i have Crohn’s Disease. I have been through quite a lot with it. I have had guys freak out and leave the first time i ended up in the hospital while i was dating them. I found this article that made me laugh….

I guess it goes for women too. Date us diseased people, we have loads of good qualities.

10 behaviors that keep you single

Standard

Here’s the article:

http://living.msn.com/love-relationships/modern-day-matchmaker-10-behaviors-that-keep-you-single#1

1. You hold onto someone who isn’t available- GUILTY. Just saw someone’s wonderful engagement cruise photos on facebook. Thanks for that.

2.You don’t believe him when he tells the truth- I don’t think i am that guilty of this. When a guy tells me he isn’t “looking for something serious”, I read “i just want to hookup”.

3. Being a toxic date- this is not me, my friends would say i am fun, energetic, and positive for the most part.

4. You don’t believe in love- I really do. I have seen relationships that work in my life (my parents for one example). I also have been in love at parts of my life. It exists.

5. You do nothing differently-(this part of the article talks about not going on dates, or not trying, not being happy with that, but not doing anything about it). I am trying. Evidence: the rest of this blog. LOL

6. You take bad advice from friends and family- I dunno maybe?

7. You commit too soon- Doubtful, haven’t found anyone decent lately.

8. You are lowering your standards to compete- NOPE!

9. Your adhering to ultimatums- NOPE!

10. Being list obsessed- I really work on trying to keep this to a minimum. I have a list, but Patti has made me realize, that i need to keep it to 5 or less things!

Tattoo

Standard

So i have plenty to write about today!!!

This was on Friday. My friend and i saw this and we debated what it said (I was a little….drunkish).

Image

So after our debate…. we decided to ask…

Image

Is there really a point in getting a tattoo that no one knows what it says or means? I might be biased here but that’s bad.

So as we sat at the world of beer, (a fabulous establishment) A group of 40something guys approached our picnic table. They wanted to watch basketball from our table so they asked if they bought us drinks and didnt ask us ANY questions, could they sit with us. I of course said yes, knowing this would turn out to be hilarious. It of course, was. They were all married except one telling us that he was an ice road trucker who was up in [waa-waa? wisconsin?] and met an 18 year old menonite girl. He was sad to have to leave her. YUP… that kind of night. LOL

In my search i have also found this…. I didn’t respond. Iphone ***cough*** cough***!!!

15 dating tricks

is the article, but i am just gunna talk about 20’s and a bit of 30’s perhaps!

“During my 20s, I dated most of, if not all, the eligible men of Manhattan. And some, not so eligible. Don’t do anything in your 20s that you will still have to think about in your 30s. Follow my logic: If 40 is the new 30, then naturally, 20 is the new 10. So have fun, play nice and expect some bruises and tears.”

This was the BEST. Very true, there will be bruises and tears. Completely expect there to be, but it is still not easy to deal with them!!!

See the red flags was also a favorite. “The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them.” ― Maya Angelou . I think about this a quite a bit. If someone lies to you about something small, they are showing you that they are a liar.

Dating “Projects- we have all done this one. Thought we could fix up a guy or girl to be perfect. This NEVER works. like EVER!
